Boat Shipping Cost Calculator
REF: EN-912-LOGISTICS
Use this tool to estimate the overland transportation costs for moving your vessel. By factoring in total distance, boat length, and beam (width) which determines wide-load permit requirements, this calculator provides a realistic baseline for professional boat hauling and logistics budgeting.

Understanding Boat Shipping Costs
Transporting a boat overland requires specialized equipment, trained drivers, and often special permits. While the base rate usually depends on total mileage, the physical dimensions of your vessel play a critical role in final pricing.
Key Factors Influencing Your Shipping Quote:
- Beam Width (The "Wide Load" Factor): In North America, any boat wider than 8 feet 6 inches requires wide-load permits. If your beam exceeds 10 to 12 feet, you may also require escort vehicles, which significantly increases the per-mile cost.
- Distance & Route: Haulers charge by the mile. However, routes through dense cities, mountainous terrain, or areas requiring toll roads/bridges can incur surcharges.
- Height Restrictions: Most highway overpasses have a clearance of 13'6". If your boat (loaded on the trailer) is taller than this, the driver must map a specialized route, removing radar arches or flybridges is highly recommended.
- Preparation & Lifts: The quote usually covers the transport from point A to B. You are generally responsible for marina lifting fees (Travelift) to get the boat onto and off the transport trailer.
Pro Tip: Ensure your boat is completely prepped before the hauler arrives. Empty the fuel and water tanks to reduce weight, secure all interior cabin items, remove canvas/bimini tops, and disconnect batteries.
